OUR SCHOOL

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, Esperance.

We are a co-educational Catholic primary school established in 1992. Being a single stream school, catering for students from Pre-Kindergarten (Three-Year-Old Kindy) to Year Six, provides a wonderful opportunity to truly know our students and target learning experiences accordingly. Our students come from families with diverse backgrounds and occupations, with each family bringing their gifts and talents to our school community. We pride ourselves on being a very welcoming community and a true family school.

Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School (OLSOTS) is extremely fortunate to have a personable and dedicated staff, who strive to provide a holistic education for all students to help them grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually during their primary school journey. Our teachers and education assistants are dedicated, talented and wholeheartedly committed to creating stimulating, positive, nurturing environments. Our staff work collaboratively to help create a thriving, encouraging and healthy learning community.

Our school enjoys an excellent reputation both locally and within the Catholic Education system and works in close partnership with Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Parish. At OLSOTS, we strive to ‘Make Jesus Real’ in our community through living our CORE Values: Courage, Optimism, Respect and Excellence.

We provide a positive and supportive environment for the students to grow as confident and independent learners as they strive for excellence in all they do. We value open and honest communication, as we work in partnership with parents and caregivers.

We value the meaningful integration of Digital Technologies, with banks of iPads in our junior classes and a 1:1 iPad program in Years 4-6. In addition to their classroom subjects, our students engage in Physical Education, Art, Drama, LOTE (Auslan) and Science. Science is intentionally longer than other specialist areas, providing opportunities for greater investigation and the integration of STEM. Evidence based whole-class literacy programs PreLit (Kindy) and InitiaLit (Pre-Primary, Year One and Year Two) are complemented with MiniLit and MacqLit (small group intervention). Our Academic Enrichment program is data driven and fluid in nature, allowing students to be involved based on the termly focus, with school data taken into consideration when selecting students. Students have the opportunity to engage in After School Sport and Chess Club.

I am honoured to be the Principal of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School and I invite you to contact us if you have any questions or drop in and say hello.
